The Global Alliance for Media Authentication and Cooperation (GAMAC) brings together media organizations, cultural entities and technical communities to verify that the voices reaching the public belong to real, accountable journalists — not synthetic impostors.
Trust cannot be claimed — it has to be verifiable
Generative AI can now reproduce a journalist's face, voice and byline within minutes. As deepfakes and automated impersonation spread, audiences, newsrooms and platforms can no longer tell a verified correspondent from a convincing imitation. GAMAC answers with infrastructure, not slogans: a phygital press credential anchored in cryptography and hardware, governed by a decentralized alliance rather than any single company or state.
The ICOPC Phygital Credential
The International Certified Online-journalist Professional Credential (ICOPC) is a tamper-evident press credential: an NFC-secured physical card paired with a verifiable digital identity recorded on a decentralized ledger. A tap proves a real journalist stands behind the story.

Global South Capacity Building
Trust infrastructure must not become a privilege of the wealthy. Through open-source tools and technology transfer, GAMAC aims to bring free verification capability to 500+ Global South media organizations by the end of 2026.

Issue
A member newsroom verifies its journalist and issues an ICOPC credential. The identity is cryptographically bound to an NFC-secured physical card and recorded on the verification ledger.
Tap or look up
Anyone — an editor, a source, a platform or a reader — taps the card with a phone or enters the credential ID. The response returns the holder's verified identity in seconds.
Trust and verify
The result is readable by humans and machines alike, and is designed to interoperate with open content-provenance standards — so verified identity can travel with the content it produces.
